VirtualShield for Linux fails to install in Mint20

I successfully run VirtualShield in a virtual machine running Ubuntu 18.04 LTS. The app auto-loads when I launch the OS.

As a test, I tried to use the same beta installer to configure VirtualShield in a new Mint v.20 setup using VirtualBox 6.1.12. The install.sh and virtualshield.amd64.deb files are dated July 26, 2018 and are contained in the VirtualShieldSetup.zip file I downloaded from the developer. Per VirtualShield’s recommendation, I extracted the files to the Mint desktop and ran the installer from there using Terminal.

During installation, the process starts but then aborts immediately before finishing the install process. I checked feedback after the failed install and this is the feedback I received:

Installing VirtualShield, please wait…

Since VirtualShield runs fine on Ubuntu, I checked that OS to see how those files are set up. The shell script is programmed to copy essential VirtualShield files into the /usr/share/virtualshield folder. It also creates a VirtualShield desktop icon. None of those files get created when using the VirtualShield installer in Mint20.

Due to time constraints, I did not try to install VirtualShield in an older version of Mint, such as v.18 or v.19.
