If you are Skype user in the United States who has contacts in the United Kingdom, you may run into a situation like I did recently where you repeatedly receive a pre-recorded message that your call cannot be completed at this time. Fortunately, there’s a simple fix for this persistent and aggravating error message.
To fix the overseas connection problem, you need to add Caller ID as an option by logging into the Skype website and signing in with your user account.
In the Manage features section, click the tab called Caller ID, then select your country from the menu.
Skype gives you the option to set up Caller ID using either your mobile phone or assigned Skype Number. If you set up Caller ID using your mobile phone, click the green-colored Verify Number button. Caller ID activation using a mobile phone takes about 24 hours. If you set up Caller ID using your pre-saved Skype Number, activation is instantaneous.
What is caller identification and how do I set it up?
