iOS8 has a new health app that could save lives

iO8 Health AppIn iOS 8 for iPhones 4s and higher, there is a new app that is not well publicized but may save your life or someone else’s. Everybody should know about it, especially first responders and EMTs.

In the “Health” app, the fourth badge on the bottom row is “Medical ID.” Enter your birth date, contacts in case of emergency, blood type, organ donor, height, weight, medical conditions, and medical notes. Include your physician’s phone number and your medical record number, allergies and reactions, and medications.

MAKE SURE YOU’VE ENABLED “SHOW WHEN LOCKED.” This last step is critical, as the point of this whole exercise is if you are incapacitated, emergency personnel can access the above information from the locked screen of your iPhone.

Locked screen > Swipe > Emergency > Medical ID

If you don’t see the “Health” app, you probably haven’t upgraded to iOS 8.
