Removing unwanted apps from dock in Mountain Lion

In older OS X operating systems like Snow Leopard 10.6, the standard way to remove a file, folder, or app off the dock was to drag it to the right and then release. That’s no longer the case in 10.8.

While the procedure is not difficult, it’s just not obvious, especially if you’re used to doing things the “old way.” Instead of trying to drag the unwanted icon off the dock, click on it to expose a drop-down menu and select Remove from Dock from the Options menu.
