Earthlink customer sees his email password in a spam message

Received the following email from a fellow computer consultant:

“One of my clients received a spam today to his Earthlink account. In one of the address fields was his Earthlink password. I haven’t seen the email but it looks like Earthlink has been breached.”

Earlier this month, a news article titled “Massive Data Breach Affecting Hotmail, Yahoo, AOL, Comcast, Earthlink and Google Users Revealed” disclosed that at least 50,000 user account passwords had been stolen and posted on the web.

Changing passwords regularly is strongly recommended to mitigate the security risks that have become all-too common these days.
