Review of Mac OS X Basics: Increasing screen font size

From today’s mail bag:

The print on the screen is way too small for me to read. How do I make it bigger?

  1. 1. Make sure your Mac desktop is the active window. To verify, check the listing of names that appear on the upper left menu bar. They should appear in this sequence:

    Finder > File > Edit > View > Go > Window > Help

If the names don’t match the above sequence, that means that one of your Mac applications is the active window. Close or minimize the program to switch to the Mac desktop view.

    2. From the Mac desktop, select the View menu, then choose “Show View Options.”

    3. You should see a small, rectangular dialog box titled “Desktop.” Click the blue-colored, up-and-down arrow next to the option named Text size to bring up a list of font sizes ranging from 10 pt to 16 pt. To increase the font size, choose a higher number.
