AOL Windows to AOL Mac

From today’s mail bag:

I have a client who has moved from a PC to a Mac using AOL. On the PC, they have stored mail from previous years in File Cabinet folders. The Apple Store had no idea how to transfer the contents of the PC AOL File Cabinet to the Mac’s AOL.

There are THOUSANDS of emails, so it is not plausible to resend the emails via the PC and download them at the Mac. I know of some 3rd party utilities (e.g., Outlook2Mac) which will convert AOL to Outlook on the PC but I’m not finding anything to go from AOL Windows to AOL Mac. Anyone been here before and have a solution? It can be a purchased utility, no problem.

I attempted to download this application to get contacts from my AOL Email PC version.
I’m getting an error message that the address or password will not authenticate with AOL. I’m providing my AIM email address and the correct password.
    Suggestions?
    Thanks!

Mark, what version of Mac OS X and AOL (Mac and PC) are you using? I suspect that the AOL Service Assistant hasn’t been updated to work with Leopard or Snow Leopard.

    ePreserver
Transfer your AOL e-mail, address book and favorite places
    $24.95

ePreserver is the simplest way to to:

    * Copy your AOL mail and contacts to Outlook or Gmail.
    * Convert your AOL favorites to Internet Explorer.
    * Export your AOL data from Windows to the Mac.

Based on the product description, I’m guessing you can use ePreserver to transfer your AOL contacts stored in Windows to OS X’s Address Book, which you can then export to AIM on the Mac.

Disclaimer: I am not familiar with the ePreserver program and cannot guarantee that it will complete the conversion to your satisfaction.

Thanks for the suggestion and the disclaimer! Didn’t think transferring data from my PC to a Mac would be quite so contentious…
