As noted on MacFixIt and other sites, Apple has just released the latest update to Leopard — Mac OS X 10.5.3 — which is supposed to fix a number of bugs that were affecting users of 10.5.2. I downloaded the 10.5.3 update and will test it on my computer to see what changes and improvements have been made to the operating system.
The 10.5.3 combo updater weighs in at a hefty 531 MB. To download, select the Software Update preference pane or click the link on http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/.
When repairing permissions under OS X 10.5.3, you will now see a new message in the Show Details window:
Reading permissions database. Reading the permissions database can take several minutes.
