Console log reveals system degradation when using Word 2004

I am still using Office 2004 for the Mac and have not upgraded to the current version from Microsoft. In the time that I’ve been running Leopard as my Mac OS, I have noticed a general slowdown whenever I use Microsoft Word 2004. This fact seems to be borne out by the following error that appears in my Mac’s Console log:

2/12/08 12:23:18 PM [0x0-0xbb0bb].com.microsoft.Word[1462] Tue Feb 12 12:23:18 Macintosh.local Word[1462] <Error>: The function `CGPDFDocumentGetMediaBox’ is obsolete and will be removed in an upcoming update. Unfortunately, this application, or a library it uses, is using this obsolete function, and is thereby contributing to an overall degradation of system performance. Please use `CGPDFPageGetBoxRect’ instead.

This is still in Office 2008. Bad news if you want to upgrade. It appears that Microsoft have closed my call on this problem as they said that it is resolved in the next release…. When exactly?

Also this problem causes an aggressive slow down on other apps to.
