Mac OS X 10.5: Incompatible software

I posted the following comment on MacFixIt:

I can add QuickBooks Pro 6 to the list of older apps that don’t perform with full functionality under Leopard. While QuickBooks starts up fine, the menu bar selections at the top of the screen stop responding to mouse clicks as soon as I bring up a checking account window. While running QuickBooks under Leopard disables the menu bar, the icon options just below the menu bar continue to respond normally. To close QuickBooks, I’m forced to use the keyboard shortcut, Command-Q.

  1. Just want to say I’m having the same problem.

    I’ve narrowed down the cause: opening a register.

    If I do a whole session in QB Pro 6 without ever opening a register view of any account, the menu bar works with no trouble.

    As soon as I open any register, the menu bar stops working. Dead. Nothing happens when I cllick on any menu item.

    Only recourse is Command-Q and restart the program.

    This is on an Intel iMac with OSX 10.5.6.

    I’m afraid to upgrade to any newer QuickBooks Pro/Mac until I know for sure that last year’s problem of hard disk erasing is gone.
