I haven’t posted any new material over the past week because I’ve been busy consulting customers and reconfiguring my office computers.
I recently purchased a new MacBook Pro laptop and a bus-powered 200 GB RAID enclosure from G-Technology. The MacBook Pro will enable me to train customers in running Windows applications on their Macs using Parallels and CrossOver, while the RAID enclosure will allow me to replace several 3.5 inch hard drive enclosures that I had been using as part of my file backup system. To make room for the laptop, I transferred the server files stored on my 8-year-old iMac G3 onto my Intel iMac that I had been using as my main workstation. Since I bought the laptop from the Apple Store, I am taking advantage of Apple’s offer to recycle my iMac G3 for free. Through my latest acquisitions and equipment consolidation, I took a modest step towards making my office more eco-friendly and less cluttered.
